The Great Lakes of North America!
Large freshwater lakes spanning the Canada–U.S. border.
The old way
A simple way to remember the lakes’ names was “HOMES”
Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior
As of late–August 2026, “SHAME” may be the right acronym:
- Superior
- Huron
- America (Everyone else will still call it Lake Ontario.)
- Michigan
- Erie
